 You may be wondering what the picture of a dog has to do with craniosacral therapy???
A lot… The first time I met Roxy the Collie, my faithful Belgian Shepherd Jesse had just died the previous month. Someone I had met through my work at Liberty Stables was doing a hot rock massage on me in her little cabin that she had just set up for this. I did not know that she had a Collie and I was delighted to see her. After the treatment, as I was ready to leave, I touched Roxy, looked into her eyes, felt her energy and gentleness and knew right away there was something special about her. She was so much like Jesse. I could barely keep myself from crying and I knew I had to see Roxy again, and so it happened… My therapist friend took her first craniosacral course a few weeks later and started using me as a body to practise on. In addition to that I started to house sit for her. Eventually I took Roxy on some of my runs which had become a little boring without a dog. The picture on top of the page I took on my second run with her while house sitting at Easter of 2010. I can’t put into words how good I felt up on the hill with her, it was an amazing experience, just like the first time I met her. And there have been many more of them since. To put it into craniosacral terms, just by her presence Roxy initiates Somato-Emotional Release and things start to come up to the surface, ready to be dealt with and let go. Thank you, girl, for being a great healing dog and one of the best friends I ever had!!! Roxy passed away at the age of 15 and I will always remember her as the image and embodiment of pure love and all that is good. |
