About a week ago I got back from a course in the Bahamas:
BioAquatic Exploration, SomatoEmotional Release. Only a small group of 12 students was allowed to participate in the class in order for everyone to get as much out of it as possible. We had a great teacher and assistant to support us. The classroom part of the course was held at a resort on the island of Grand Bahama. On the first day we took a boat to meet with the dolphins and their trainers. Everybody got to swim with a dolphin and do fun stuff with them. At the end everybody got a hug from one dolphin and a kiss from another, it was amazing. I got an extra hug from the second dolphin and felt very emotional afterwards… Later we had a mini-session in the pool at the resort to get used to working on somebody in the water and figuring out how best to hold them. On day 2 we all went to a very nice beach with turquoise-coloured water and worked on each other in the ocean in groups of four. Doing CranioSacral Therapy in the water is very interesting. The “patients” are able to move their bodies and go into different positions to unwind very easily compared to a massage table, and release “stuff” from their tissues without gravity interfering. Being out in the ocean we all felt very connected to everything, more than in the pool. Day 3 was my favorite, we went back to the dolphin area and everybody had a dolphin-assisted session in the water. Two dolphins were working with six students at a time while the other six students were holding on to their feet, standing on a platform in the water. I was part of the first group in the water. Right at the start of my session one of the dolphins touched my left foot which has been giving me problems for a while. I had my feet facing out, instead of my head. After this I turned around. While being worked on I could hear and feel the healing vibration and sound under water almost the whole time. They were working mostly on the left side of my head and brain. Once in a while they would swim by and make a specific wave pattern in the water that I could feel was doing something for me. My neck and shoulders which had been feeling very tight for the last few days started to feel very relaxed during this session, my head was just floating in the water and almost all the tension was gone. During my partner’s session I could observe a lot more what the dolphins were doing, once they both came between me and my partner and the two students that were working next to us. At the end of the sessions everybody got a hug or kiss again. Later we did another session in the pool to process and integrate what happened with the dolphins. On day 4 we went to another beach and did one more session in the ocean. At the end it was play-time and we did some flips in the water or asked someone to push us down and stand on us for a while… Everybody had a good time in the Bahamas and some of us went to a fish fry one night or to the Port Lucaya Marketplace where all kinds of stores and restaurants with great food can be found. On the last evening we all had dinner together at a beach restaurant and said good-bye until another time… There is an advanced class where we get to work with the dolphins every day, I’m sure I will be back for it someday. There is also a dolphin-assisted program for patients that are looking for help. This 5-day program consists of multiple-hands sessions in the pool, the ocean and dolphin-assisted sessions as well.
